When you sit down at the kitchen table and begin your conversation with a potential customer, you’ll quickly find they’re eager to ask their two favorite questions: “What’s the best brand?” and “How much does it cost?” Here are some effective ways to shift the conversation and position yourself as an expert.
Addressing the Question: “What’s the Best Brand?”
When the consumer asks about the best brand, you can redirect their focus by saying something like:
“It’s actually not just about the equipment; it’s the installation of the equipment that is critical to your comfort. Let me explain why.”
You can elaborate with these points:
- Proper Installation Matters: Even if a product has the highest efficiency and best specifications, if it’s not installed correctly—if the contractor doesn’t properly size it, find the right placement, or use the right tools—you won’t experience the comfort the product promises.
- Warranties and Rebates: Poor installation can lead to missing out on extended warranties. Furthermore, to qualify for rebates and incentives, the unit typically must be professionally installed.
